Welcome to Episode II of this series.
In today’s episode we meet Summer Lollie.
Summer wants to buy a two story, four bedroom house like the one her parents have. I assume the extra bedrooms will be for all the cats. But Summer can’t afford a house.
Summer has 35,000 of student loan debt, a car loan to pay and she lives with her parents.
Her parents who own a house – yet never attended college. Think about that.
Her parents grew up and bought that house when the land was ruled by heterosexual white men with jobs. They had no college. And they bought a house.
Summer has grown up (technically Summer hasn’t grown up, that’s the problem) with social justice warriors, speech codes, safe spaces, trigger warnings, hope, change and forward. Summer has had a half-black President for eight fucking years. How can she not afford a house?
