A discussion about the book Against Football, One Fan’s Reluctant Manifesto by Steve Almond.

Steve Almond is a rabid statist. He identifies many legitimate problems with the NFL, college football and football culture & politics. However his femistatism and small penis (Almond has a penis obsession) prevent him from being able to identify the source of the problems and possible solutions.

This book is also an almost perfect parallel of statism. Just as Almond sees the problems with football yet chooses to ignore them because he gains pleasure from football so to does the femistatist see the problems with the State but choose to ignore them because the femistatist benefits from the State.

The NFL fans are oblivious to the corruption of the NFL just as statists are oblivious to the corruption of the State. Both NFL fans and statists gain their identity from that which they worship – the NFL or the State.

If any sport should receive corporate welfare it’s girls volleyball. I bet you never saw that coming did you?
