Over on YouTube (aka Troll Central) I got a comment and question on one of my videos which was actually intelligent and well reasoned. This is my response and attempt to clarify my thinking.

Here is the question:

I’m confused. So you’re saying that thinking that the government has any role in anything makes you not libertarian? Because that actually makes you anarchist, libertarian just upholds liberty as the highest political end. I’m a libertarian because I believe that it the role of the government to protect the rights of it’s citizens. I would say I’m a libertarian because I also believe it is not the position to make moral judgements about people, but only to uphold people’s rights, such as life. If there’s some name for this I’ll gladly change it, but from what I’ve seen, I’m a libertarian.?

The fact that he is confused means he is thinking. And that’s better than you 99% can ever lay claim to.
